In case you didn't know.
Um, this sums up my feelings on this joyous occasion.

Dude, the Flyers kick ass!
They won again tonight, 4-2 to take a 3-1 series lead on Montreal! I'm actually excited about hockey again.

Oh no. Not this dickhead, again.
At this point you can't help but be convinced that Jeremiah Wright wants Barack Obama to lose and is intentionally derailing his campaign. What makes this unfair is that Obama has tried very hard not to throw this asshole under the bus, and this is the thanks he gets. It's obvious Wright simply can't help himself. He craves the stage. And let's face it, no one knew who he was two months ago. Now he won't let himself respectfully fade into the background. This guy desperately wants to be the next Al Sharpton - hey, who also has his own bit of Obama-jealousy.
But lets be clear on a few things. First, Wright is NOT running for president. Nor is he a law-maker, and in the grand scheme of this election, is entirely irrelevant. Unfortunately, the man can produce a good sound-bite, and it's way too easy for the media to fixate on this guy while those of us with short-attention spans eat it up. By joining Obama and Wright at the hip, it becomes easy for the other two candidates or conservative talking heads to make these facile accusations that Obama thinks AIDS is a government conspiracy, or that Louis Farrakhan is a great human, or that Obama isn't sympathetic to Israel, or is a flaming liberal Marxist who will take away your handgun. If you seriously believe these are positions that Obama takes, then you're an idiot. (And to be fair, neither the Turd Sandwich nor the Giant Douche who are running for president don't take any of these positions either.). You also have to wonder what the Republicans want out of a black leader. Here you have a reasonable human being in Barack Obama finally transcending an older generation of leaders like Wright, Sharpton, and Jackson who are too preoccupied with playing the victim to be truly effective, but the Republicans (for purely partisan reasons) will still characterize Obama in the ways I just mentioned.
Granted, I don't think Obama helped himself by being affiliated with this loon in the first place, but he did the right thing yesterday.

Drug Law Blog
I happened across this blog about drug laws this evening. Don't know if anyone caught this depressing story last week about how medical marijuana use (even when prescribed by a physician) is being used as an obstacle to receiving organ transplants.
On a more promising note, here in New York City, the approach to marijuana laws are being reviewed tomorrow. What's curious, is that in 1977, the possession of small amounts of pot were decriminalized which in theory was to decrease the number of arrests being made. However, exactly the opposite is happening. In 2006, over 30,000 arrests were made. At least the bar is looking into this. I'm curious to see what the results will actually be.
Now back to the bad news. Next time you go to Amsterdam, you'll be strictly sticking to the weed and hash, as liberal Holland has now banned the sale of magic mushrooms after a 17-year old French girl jumped from a bridge to her death. When the Dutch government no longer trusts adults to make responsible decisions about what they put into their body because of the irresponsible actions of a few, you know were fucked.

Beard Papa's

I bought a half dozen of these cream puffs from Beard Papa's on Sunday, and promptly ate three of them as soon as I got home, gave one to my roommate for her birthday, and finished off the other two (one before and one after dinner) this evening. Seriously, I think I would give up smoking weed if I could have one of these every day for the rest of my life.

How cool are the Flyers?
Who beat the Montreal Canadiens tonight, 4-2!
Not at all like the Eagles who fucking traded out of the first round in the draft to then trade down again in the second round to pick up a defensive tackle! I guess the fact that Brian Dawkins is going to be 35 this October and our two starting tackles are in the last year of their contact and over 34 is not of any concern. What pisses me off is that the Giants - you know the team that one of the Super Bowl who also happens to be a division foe - took the player I wanted to see the Eagles draft, Miami safety Kenny Phillips. Fuck it. We are gonna suck next season. 6-10 with at least six starts by Kevin Kolb. It's only April and I'm already conceding it's going to be a long, long, long season.
At least we now have two first round picks in next year's draft courtesy of the Carolina Panthers, which will be useful considering both teams are going to be terrible. That said, we'll probably trade both picks for another defense lineman. I hate being an Eagles fan.
